Hey Guys,
So I'm finally doing a review of a Restaurant on the Mainland and I plan to do more of this as I know my Lagos readers live all over Lagos.
I went to Yellow Chilli on Valentine's Day as opposed to one of the restaurants on my list as I was really craving Seafood Okra. I had been craving it for a while as I love love love prawns.
Before this day, I had only been to Yellow Chili once and it was the VI branch.
The Ikeja branch is way bigger, more spacious, has a nicer compound and better light too.
There were Loads of people at this branch at 2pm so we had to wait for at least 45 minutes before we got a tableI got a Chapman and it cost N750
It was just there, I prefer Smoov tbh, this one had too much ginger for me
Ambience wise, not the best for Valentine's day. No romantic music, loads of children and families around, not as cosy as it could be. This glass of red water was the only thing there to show it was Valentine's day. Maybe next time, give us heart shaped chocolates or red balloons, just something cute.
My friend got Pounded Yam and Edikaikong.
It cost N2,300 and he really enjoyed it.
It was made with real pounded yam, not Poundo.
Like I said, I got the Seafood Okra
It was soooo soooo good, apparently I was rushing it like someone who hadn't eaten for 3 weeks
I no dey front when it comes to food o
It cost N3,300 and I got it with Eba. They only have Yellow Eba which is slightly annoying as I prefer white eba. I finished it all though :)
They have some interesting items on their menu that I will like to try out, like the Jollof Rice Fiesta and all the meals with Prawns.
Have any of you been to Yellow Chili? What did you get? Is it a regular joint for you? What do you like and what don't you like? Tell me, Tell me, Tell me.
Also, if there are any restaurants on the mainland that you love, let me know so I can check them out.
I prefer white eba as well, now that okra soup looks so good, I'm hungry now and craving it and I don't really like the soup. Thumbs up by the way, your food photography skills just get better and better.

It tasted so good too!
DeleteThank you Sarah :)
I went to Yellow Chilli about two years ago and I loved their jollof rice fiesta. It had like meat and prawns in it, if I remember correctly. I don't know if my view on the food counts, given that it was so long ago. I remember liking it and packing the one I couldn't finish so I could enjoy it the next day as my lunch. My parents like Yellow Chilli so I went a couple of times with them. They prefer the Ikeja branch to the VI one.

I haven't tried the Jollof Rice Fiesta but it looked sooo good.
DeleteI will try it or the fried rice one next time I go :)
Where is this place in Ikeja? Do they do delivery?
ReplyDeleteYou should also try out Rodizio, Jeveniks and Rhapsody.
Its on Joel Ogunnaike Street, the rd where you have Lagos Country club.
DeleteThat seafood okra looks so so good, now I'm hungry. xx

The pictures made me hungry too!
DeleteI want!!! One thing Yellow Chilli lacks is ambience. Place is always rowdy sha ni. If you don't have crying babies, you'll have ppl that gist too loudly. But I love their seafood okra and their portions are generous. We always end up taking some home. La Mango is another good one, and for Chinese, try New China restaurant. It in the OPIC plaza, its the big brown plaza between the Total filling station and Sheraton. Jade on Issac John is good too. Big Treat on Opebi used to have a good restaurant some years back. It was closed for so long but it seems they have reopened it. I am yet to eat there since the reopening. They had good and affordable meals then.
ReplyDeleteOh, so the rowdiness is a regular thing then.
DeleteTheir food tastes really good so it is understandable, their portions are really generous.
I'm going to go there more often and recommend it to people too.
Never heard of New China restaurant, will look it up.
I have been to both and I must say I prefer the one at Ikeja to the one at Victoria Island. The one at Ikeja is more spacious and has better ambience in my opinion. And yes, the guests there are always too loud. There was this time my family and I went there and some girls that came for reunion wouldn't stop screaming and laughing. That wasn't cool at all and the fried rice fiesta is totally off the hook. You should try it if you ever go there again.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's bigger, and the lighting is wayyy better yoo :)
DeleteLoool, soo many things for me to try next time I go.
I must go with plenty people so we all order different dishes and get to taste everything :)
The seafood okra looks so good. I'm definitely going to try it the next time I go there
ReplyDeleteOyime's Musings
Yayyyy!
DeleteI've never been to Yellow Chilli but I'll put it on my list now. I love seafood and it's like they have lots of prawn dishes. Yum
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should go together, let me know when next you want to go, I LOVE SEAFOOD TOO!!!
DeleteWe can have a Blogger date at Yellow Chilli as it's a but more affordable than other restaurants.
I have been to Yellow Chilli, both VI and Mainland. I love their Afang and goat meat with yellow eba *I am literally tormenting myself right now sigh!*
ReplyDeleteCan't say much for their delivery service though, ordered for ten, the food came in spilled, unattractive packs and they forgot some of the items we ordered. It was a really annoying experience. Their website also needs to be updated to align with what is obtainable in the restaurant. Plus the lady on the phone kept interrupting to attend to customers who were AT the restaurant, and giving me attitude like 'if it was important to you you'd have come in not order via phone'.
Lovely pictures by the way.
Happy leap day to you too hun!
Loool, I don't like goat meat but I like Afang sometimes. I went through their menu online and wrote out 10 items I want to try. Might just organise a Food Taster Day at Yellow Chilli as loads of people seem interested in eating there.
DeleteOh Wow, that sucks!
Thank youuu :)
I hardly ever eat out, but these look good! I've heard of the restaurant, though I've never been here. I should try it out sometime... Nice review.
ReplyDeleteYeah it was really good, you should definitely try it out!
DeleteHey babygirl!!! First time I'm viewing your blog via a laptop so i thought to come and be a nuisance here small. Okbye

ReplyDeleteAmbience: fair
ReplyDeleteLousy guests: yes
Food packs: unattractive
Had their fried rice fiesta which I couldn't eat cos of the aroma but their sea food okra is on point. Maybe I would go with my girls soon so we can be lousy too😁
Loool, Now I wonder what was wrong with the Aroma.
