So I attended a Vlisco Event at Ikeja City Mall last week and I learnt so much about the brand, Ankara Counterfeits, the partnerships they have and the opportunities they provide.
It was a lovely event with classy friendly people, delicious food, flowing drinks and a nice ambiance.
I wore an Omilua Dress made with 3 different Vlisco fabrics, how do you like this print mix?
I love the fit of the dress, the mixed sleeves and the quality of the finishing.I paired it with my cute Joel Lani purse from this post.
I rocked Rose Gold metallic heels from Prima Donna in Italy, I launched them at a family friend's wedding in Italy, see them styled here.
I first heard of Omilua when Dee Mako wore a 2 piece set from the brand and took stunning pictures at Olumo Rock, see her post here.
I then saw her collection at LFDW last year so was pretty pleased when the Creative Director reached out for a collaboration.
This wasn't my first choice from the SS 17 collection as I prefer more vibrant and rich colours like Orange, Yellow, Red and Teal Blue.
However, I love the way this dress looks and feels. Sometimes, step out of your comfort zone and try something you wouldn't usually wear.
Omilua is stocked at the Zinkata store in Dolphin and she has a studio in Isolo. You can reach her on 08163440984 or omiluadesigns@gmail.com
If you are an upcoming designer, you should definitely apply as the winner gets training, mentorship, equipment, exposure and 2 million Naira. I will let you know when applications open, but in the mean time, get your business plan on point and follow Vlisco on Instagram and Facebook.
I'm really glad I went for the Lunch with Vlisco event as I got to catch up with old fashion friends and make new ones too.Are you a fan of Vlisco? Do you know the difference between original and counterfeit material? Do you patronise Nigerian Designers/Instagram Aso ebi makers? If yes, who is your favourite/who have you had a good experience with?
A great collaboration and great fabrics!!
