Tuke's Quest: January 2015

Workflow: Textures

Hey Guys!

Hope you are having a restful weekend. Anyone else feel like the month of January has gone by too quickly. The month of February begins tomorrow and it's going to be interesting, my blog is going to be 1 on the 8th of February, I'm accepting presents o :) It's election season too, I pray everything goes smoothly and peacefully.
So, I wore this to work on Thursday as I was attending a Uni alumni shindig in the evening, I know it can be worn to church too. I have my moods in terms of office dressing, some days I'm all corporate like in this post, other days I wear a dress like this one. Friday is Smart Casual so my jeans come out. But, this past thursday, I launched my Twenty Six Skirt, this is my second one, the first one was polka, remember this post?

Pandora Meets Ankara

So I was gisting with my friend, Tolu, sometime last week and she asked if I had plans for Sunday the 18th. I had none and she said she'll send my name to the people at Pandora so I could be added to the guestlist. She's a blogger at Cocophemie so you can check out her recap of the event here.

A pandora representative brought the IV to my house  a couple of days to event and I was really impressed with the packaging.

The Monochrome Way: The Black Bag

Hello

Watsup people? How are you guys?

I started my new job last week, we are going through an academy (training school) at the moment so a lot of lectures going on.

I realised last week that I didn't have a big black bag so I checked Kampke.com and found the perfect one which can carry A4 Folders. It's such a necessity so the good folks at Kampke are giving my readers 25% off any Zara Bag. You just need to enter the code TUKE25 at checkout and it runs till the 31st of January 2015. (I get points if you buy through the link on my blog so do the needful). They've got a few of the Zara heels I've been rocking left so grab yours now before they get sold out, they've got them in ivory too.

Something Different: Natures Gentle Touch

Hey Guys!

Hope you're having a good week, it's gone by pretty fast, don't you think?

Two weeks ago, my family friend, Ibiyemi, tagged me in a competition on Instagram organised by @naturesgentletouch and @oluchi1. The question was simple, name 5 natures gentle touch products and the first 10 people to answer correctly would win a free hair makeover.

I was pretty pleased that I won, I was the 10th person to answer the question, Yayy me. I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never been to the Natures Gentle Touch Hair Institute before. Plus, I wasn't really sure if they would be able to deal with Natural Hair. Boy, was I in for a Surprise.

I got there, spoke to the receptionist, she asked for ID to verify that I was one of the winners and then I was led to the treatment room. I filled in a form, was asked some questions about my hair regimen, the consultant inspected my scalp and then suggested a treatment. It was a real hair consultation, they even had a microscopic camera that showed them the roots of my hair.
She suggested an Aromatherapy Treatment which involved massaging a mixture of essential oils into my scalp to help with the dry scalp issue she noticed. The mixture was brushed into my hair then I went under a steamer. I didn't even ask questions because the stylist, Tosin, was so professional, she definitely knew what she was doing. My hair was shampooed, conditioned, I went under a steamer at some point and it was blowdried too.

Workflow: Pinafore

Hey Guys

This is the third part of my workflow series, check out part 1 and 2 if you missed them.

Does anyone else think Pinafore is a weird word?

Err, anyhoo my school turned 20 last week, the primary school I went to, it also happened to be my PPA (Place of Primary Assignment) during NYSC. I knew I would be done with NYSC when the school clocked 20 but I planned to go back and play the Sax. I wasn't really sure what to wear so I went with the easiest option and did a grown up version of the School Uniform.

Day out with Sarie: Cafe Neo x Whitespace

So I met up with my friend Sarie yesterday, I haven't seen her since I went to Abuja in July so it was fun catching up. She wanted to go to Cafe Neo so we went to the one which recently opened at The Whitespace in Ikoyi. (58 Raymond Njoku Street, Off Awolowo Road) Remember that time I went for a Block Party with some cool kids, it was held at The Whitespace. It's a creative agency and they've got a lot of interesting events happening this month. Follow them on Instagram @awca_whitespace to keep yourself updated or check out Bella Naija for the events happening this weekend.

Okay, so, I don't drink Coffee or Tea, the only beverage I like is Hot Chocolate. I got a White Chocolate and Caramel Frappucino. It tasted like the one at Starbucks, I got mine without coffee and it cost N1,200.

The Cafe Neo in VI is right next to Bungalows on Akin Adesola but I haven't been there yet. They've got some other branches in Ikoyi, check their website for details. I heard about them from my friend, Demi Banwo, he was in Band Aid and he's a photographer. You might want to follow him as he hosts giveaways pretty often and he's given out Neo vouchers before. One Sunday in Notts

Hey Guys!

This is a bit of a throwback post, to my days in Nottingham. These pictures were taken on June 9th, 2013 to be precise. Do you think I've changed much? I haven't done a fringe since then, might try this style again soon.

I was in the choir in my Church, God's Vineyard Church in Nottingham as a Saxophonist. They have a really vibrant youth group, Radical Youth, which made my time in Uni very fulfilling. The dress code for choir that day must have been red and white.  My Skirt is from Internacionale, tank top and Blazer are from H and M. I was not into make up at that point in my lifetime, was an eyeliner and lipbalm kinda girl. See the way Lagos has changed me o!
with my girl Shaana, she's from Tanzania and she really helped me through some tough times. She loved to clean and cook and boy can she saaaang, I miss her!

Restaurant Review: RSVP

'Ello Mate

What's going on?

How did you spend/find the first Sunday of the year? Anything special happen?

I've put up quite a number of Restaurant Review posts this past week, this is the 4th one in 8 days. It's because of the holiday. Food and holiday go together innit? I met up with my secondary school girlies yesterday (We miss you Ndali). We went to this newish spot in Lagos called RSVP. One of my friend's said it is very alte (pronounced aww-te), for those of you who don't know what that means, alte is a slang for alternative which means different from the norm. There were a number of couples, expatriates and young professionals too.

It has very cool vibes, is a nice open space, with benches and tables, a bit like a loft, it's very clean and white and fresh. However, the menu isn't very extensive. If I had gone there on my own I probably would have just found another restaurant after glancing through the menu. I was pretty hungry and my friend said they served American Cuisine so I was expecting Ribs, "TGIF" kinda food but they didn't have any. They've got steak, some pastas, sandwiches, salads, soups and pie.

Restaurant Review: Pearl Garden

 Happy New Year Folks!

Are you excited for 2015? I sure am!

I've been compiling my list of goals and resolutions for the year. I'm still not done yet but you'll find out when it's ready. One thing that's going to happen is a new blog layout and a logo too so if you have anyone to recommend, do let me know. I really want to do more collaborations too, creative ones like the one with Aima's, blogger ones like the one with Mide, brand ones like the one with The Kinky Apothecary and any other collaboration's that fit in with my blog ethos.

We always have lunch/dinner with my dad's side of the family on New Year's day. When I was younger, we went to Ocean view a lot and the great thing was that they had a playground so we could burn all our energy there. I don't know that many restaurants in Lagos with a large enough compound for the children to play so if you do know any, please let me know.

We went to pearl garden, which is a really popular Chinese Restaurant in Victoria Island. It's on Tiamiyu Savage which is the street that's got Ocean Basket, Terra Kulture and Multi Choice. It's off Olosa Street where L'espace is. We actually went there 2 years ago for New Year's Day Lunch, so much has changed in my family, babies have been born, people have gotten married, a lot of growth has happened which is good.
