Thando's Shoes: Africa's First Foldable Ballerina Flats

Hey Guys

Remember how I said I went for my cousin's Wedding Thanksgiving in my previous post, well my wedding gift to them is this post so read and enjoy :)

I have loads of cousins, my Grandma on my dad's side had 44 brothers and sisters and my mum has a little over 10 siblings. I've been for 4 major family events in the past one week and I love the fact that I discover/meet new family members at these events. A lot of them are doing really interesting things and today the spotlight is on JG and Taffi who own Thando's shoes.

You might have heard of them, they took part in the She Leads Africa Competition last year and were second runner up.
Team Thandos in the house
I put up a survey they organised and I know some people won a pair of flats for being part of the first 50 to fill it in, been seeing the pictures on Instagram.

The shoes come in this super cool black bag with the map of Africa in the shape of a foot.
I absolutely Love this Ankara print, Yellow is one of my favourite colours.
They have a nice band on the back with the name of the brand
This design is called the "First Kiss" as it is their inaugural design and apparently this Ankara fabric is called "Kiss Fabric" in the market.
They are Africa's First Foldable Ballerina Flats
The First Kiss Design was inspired by Africa's rich textiles and it's a reflection of co-founders  love for each other
I've been wearing them quite a lot but the outfit pictures haven't been coming out well so enjoy these pictures of my feet for now :)

They are available in Red, Brown, Black and Bronze at Fashpa.comHeels.com.ngZuvaa.com (for people based in America) and at the Grey Velvet stores in Lekki (Centro Mall) and Ikeja City Mall.

The Brown "Fritzwa" Flat was designed by Ghanaian and Sierra Leonean musician, Fritzwa, Barbara featured them on her blog so check the post out.
The Bronze "Fierce Walk" was designed by the former Miss Universe from Angola, Leila Lopes.
The Black Peep Toe "Class Act" was designed by South African actress, Zikhona Sodlaka.
The Red "Kach Me If You Can" was designed by Nigerian celebrity stylist, Kanayo Ebi.

Prices range from N6,000 to N12,000.

What do you think of Foldable Ballerina Flats?
How would you wear your First Kiss flats if you had them?

Oh, yeah, they had a stall at the Gidi Culture festival last weekend and I know Zainab Balogun got herself a pair.

  1. They look extremely nice - I would wear them but those soles are not made for
trudging the streets of Calabar....... Tuke - are the soles sturdy? I'm all for sturdy, soles a wee bit higher than these...... Do I sound like a party pooper? I hope not......

    1. Lool, it's fine, everyone has their own preference. They are actually sturdier than they look. I haven't been to Calabar before so I don't know what the streets are like over there but you can get a pair and then tell me if they survive the streets over there :)

  2. I'm just coming over from the post Barbara did on Thando shoes..... Loving the pink soles and I am a new convert - but they need to work on thicker soles that will withstand our muddy streets....

    Just saying ....

  3. Wow your family is big, I've am yet to meet a lot of my extended family members. I love foldable flats, I had a pair before but it spoiled. The ankara print is lovely, while I'd probably rock this with a denim on denim outfit or an all black look, I feel these flats could easily get dirty.

    1. Yes o, my family is very Big!
What brand were they and how long did they last for?
It will definitely look great with an all black look.
They can get dirty depending on where you step but they can be washed too, the other 4 designs are made of vegan leather which is easier to clean.

    1. Aww, nice, you're welcome :)
I'm sure many people doubted the awoof but it wasn't a joke!
I don't think there is an expiry date but you can always send them an email asking if the shoes are stocked at the grey velvet in ikeja city mall. You could also tell her you're based so she'll let you know if she's ever in your area dropping off a delivery.

    3. Yayyy, Thanks for telling me. I've been waiting for someone to say something about it. I installed it about a week ago and have found it quite annoying plus it isn't as effective as I would have expected. The blog is getting a makeover so expect a new look before the week ends :) plus the popup will be gone too! You don earn the title o, Stakeholder of life! I appreciate your sincere comments :D
