Something Different: Natures Gentle Touch

Hey Guys!

Hope you're having a good week, it's gone by pretty fast, don't you think?

Two weeks ago, my family friend, Ibiyemi, tagged me in a competition on Instagram organised by @naturesgentletouch and @oluchi1. The question was simple, name 5 natures gentle touch products and the first 10 people to answer correctly would win a free hair makeover.

I was pretty pleased that I won, I was the 10th person to answer the question, Yayy me. I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never been to the Natures Gentle Touch Hair Institute before. Plus, I wasn't really sure if they would be able to deal with Natural Hair. Boy, was I in for a Surprise.

I got there, spoke to the receptionist, she asked for ID to verify that I was one of the winners and then I was led to the treatment room. I filled in a form, was asked some questions about my hair regimen, the consultant inspected my scalp and then suggested a treatment. It was a real hair consultation, they even had a microscopic camera that showed them the roots of my hair.
She suggested an Aromatherapy Treatment which involved massaging a mixture of essential oils into my scalp to help with the dry scalp issue she noticed. The mixture was brushed into my hair then I went under a steamer. I didn't even ask questions because the stylist, Tosin, was so professional, she definitely knew what she was doing. My hair was shampooed, conditioned, I went under a steamer at some point and it was blowdried too.

They don't use extensions at this place, they deal with your actual hair so I showed them a picture of a style I saw on Sasha's blog. My hair isn't as long or as dark as her's but Josephine (the stylist who did the twists) did a really good job. I got talking to her while she was flat twisting my hair and apparently the hair institute has been there for about 10 years and she has worked there for 3/4 years.

I was really pleased with the service and it was extremely clean too. It's pretty big compared to the salon's I usually frequent and apparently I came on a good day as it is usually packed on the weekend. I didn't pay a dime, thanks to Instagram, see why it's good to take part in giveaways. Don't miss out on the one I'm running in collaboration with Bella Cosa.

If I had paid, it would have cost N6,500. N5,000 for the treatment and N1,500 for the twists. You should check out their facebook page and see the different styles they have created with people's hair. Most of the stylist's hair looked so rich and full of life with nice bounce and sheen. Apparently they all attended the Institute so they know their stuff.

Have any of you been there? What did you think?

Please fill in the nomination form for the Nigerian Blog Awards if you haven't already. I really want to win Best New Blog and I would love to be nominated for Best Lifestyle Blog and any other category you deem fit. Thank you

  1. Way to go girl. You and giveaways though. You are always lucky with them. I have tried a couple and I never win. Some end up not picking a winner. So I have given up on giveaways for now.

    1. Thanks Pelumi, don't give up o! It never hurts to try, I'm regretting one I didnt take part in in December, there was only 1 entry and I need what was offered. Oh, well, I've learnt my lesson, no more shy shy or lazy lazy. The requirements are usually not difficult
