The Monochrome Way: Different Styles

So seeing as I'm back in Nigeria, I kinda have to shop for clothes here or order online or get someone to bring stuff for me from the overseas. I like to try before I buy so I have been trying out a few shops in Lagos.

The jumpsuit I wore in the Gingham post was bought at Lespace on sale for N2,700 which I think is extremely affordable.

I've also shopped at Mr. Price (at the Leisure Mall  in Surulere) and people really liked the picture of the outfit on Instagram. They have an online store too.

I love Peplum and this Black one was N2,400, the Monochrome skirt was N2,700 and the heels were from Bershka (£20). I wear the top a lot because it is sooo versatile and the style is extremely flattering for my figure.

I styled it here with print pants from H and M (£14.99) and Nude Pumps from Peacocks(less than 20 quid) for a friend's birthday.

I wore it to school one day with this Cobalt skirt from Forever 21. The shoes (N2,500) were also bought in Lagos at Mente de Moda, (a fashion and art exhibition/mini market event). That's Nkiru, she's really cute and her mum gave the teachers N5k at the end of first term. I think it's really necessary for parents to show teachers that they are appreciated. I would never forget her kind gesture.
I also styled the skirt with a Lava Leotard in my previous post.
Back in the day, I just used to shop, without any sense of purpose or direction. Now I realise the need to have essentials in neutral colours. Items that can be worn over and over again in a variety of styles and you won't even know it's the same item. So yeah, i'm shopping more wisely now :)

  4. Detuke, please do you know where I can get a tutorial on how you styled your hair in the first picture of this post? Thank you. And I read your spotlight interview on ourstories and I thought it was good because I actually thought of why you started a blog so the interview answered the question.

And you know how you mentioned that you liked comments, I personally read a lot of blogs and enjoy them but I don't comment. So people might enjoy or learn something from what you write but not comment. Btw, sorry for my long comment

    1. Hey Tunrayo, that picture was taken not long after my birthday and my hair was blown out so was pretty straight. I basically gave myself a side part and did a roll, tuck and pin, pompadour style. Then I did patewa halfway down the back and I twisted the section at the back into two. I'm not sure that I explained this well but check out the blog and youtube video link below for hairspiration and tutorials too. I didn't use any product for my hair though, just rolled it and used bobby pins.

  5. I always wanted to try peplum but it's so girly and I've had a tomboyish sense for so long that girly just plain creeps me out. I didn't know Bershka had cool items will check them out on my next trip into town. I only do online window shopping to see what could possibly be in store cos I loooove to try on clothes before paging for them. Love your blog will be a regular friendly neighbourhood stalker and thank you for visiting mine over at blog.ediyemade.com
