Restaurant Review: Grills in & out Lagos

Hey Guys,

Hope you've been good and I hope you had a great weekend too!

Mine was busy but productive and I'm pleased with the output of my weekend :)

So I went to Grills in and out last week and I had such an Amazing time. My friend chose the restaurant for the night, it was one of those, hop into my car, let's ride moments :D

The first time I heard of Grills in and out was in 2013 when I went to register for my NYSC in Abuja. Read about mye experience there here.
I visited the Lekki Branch when it first opened in 2014, Their self grill stations weren't operational at that time so I was really excited to try them out.

The self grill stations are uptairs and the Mongolian Grill is downstairs.
They have an outdoor area at the back of the restaurant.
Before this day I had only tried a Self Grill once and that was in China.
In China, the raw meat came in Skewers, this time around it came on a plate.
I was given sauces: Mayonnaise, Soy Sauce, Barbecue Sauce and Pepper Sauce
I got a Cherry Daquiri in a Fun Cup. It costs N2,000. However if I go back for a refill, I only pay N1,000.

The frozen mocktails are made in a machine like the one in the top left corner of the picture above.
I got the Solo Flight 2.
It cost N5,500 and comes with Shrimp, Beef and Lamb Fillet.
I asked for the lamb to replaced with chicken as I'm not a huge fan of Lamb.
The waiter started off by dabbing water on the grill to test if it was hot enough
He then used the Claw to move food items from the plate to the Grill machine.
The prawms/shrimps were definitely my favorite thing.

I enjoyed them as they were, with no spice or seasoning.
The Beef was my second favourite and the chicken my third favorite. After eating 2/3rds of it I was FULL
I didn't make much use of the dipping sauce as the protein tasted good enough on it's own.
The restaurant was pretty empty for a Thursday evening but the waiter told us that it is usually packed on the weekend.
My meal came with a side, I got rice mistakenly. I really don't like it when two people on the same table order the same dish.
I would have liked to try their noodles, wedges or cous cous instead, maybe next time. I was on the phone when the waiter asked what side I wanted so I was slightly distracted.
My friend got a Jumbo Mongolian Bowl which cost N3,700.
He was allowed to choose 4 types of vegetables, 4 proteins and as many sauces as he wanted.
He got sweet corn, bell peppers, spring onions, crushed peppers, broccoli, gizzard, mixed seafood, beef, lamb and a mix of all the sauces except sweet and sour. It was soooooo good, sooo sooo good. I wasn't a huge fan of the rice though, Smokey Bones rice remains my favourite.
I really like their logo and I have seen them and their drinks brand, Cocktails in & out at a couple of party's and weddings.
Have any of you been to Grills in & out? What was your experience like

  4. This looks SO good. I'm already dreaming about what's going to be in my jumbo Mongolian bowl.
I have to wait for my foodie partners who are away for a while though. It's always more fun with them. Sigh
