Hey Guys
I took my weave (from
this post) off about 2 weeks ago, had it in for 3 weeks. I got tired of straightening the leave out. Even though the
ORS Straightening and Strengthening Treatment leaves my hair in a stretched form for 3 weeks, it isn't bone straight so my hair wasn't blending in with the weave the way I wanted as seen
here and
here. If you check out
this post, you'll see the transition in texture over the 3 week period when I had the ORS treatment in.
Back in Uni and A levels, I used to keep my braids in for 3 months, I would keep them in for the whole term, how things have changed. I was really excited for my first wash day after the weave as I was extremely eager to try out the Olori Deep Conditioning Treatment.
|
My Coconut Oil has almost run out which is why I got some at the block party |
|
Look how much hair I lost after taking out the weave |
|
Sad Times |
They didn't use attachment for the cornrows before the weave was sewn in. I think that might have been a bad thing.
|
I pre-pooed my hair in sections with a mixture of EVOO and Coconut Oil |
|
Hair, Glorious Hair |
|
Applied the Olori Deep Conditioning treatment and then put on a steam cap for about 30 minutes |
|
My hair was sectioned with my clamps from this post |

Fuzzy Pic but doesn't my hair look glorious, I Love my curls |
My hair felt really thick and soft after I had washed out the treatment, I had hand in hair syndrome but then I decided to use my Giovanni smooth and silk conditioner too, don't think that was necessary as my hair didn't feel as luscious after I washed out when the conditioners.
Naturalistas, do you follow up with a Rinse out conditioner after you deep condition?
your hair looks glorious. I love the last pic and I love your curls!!
ReplyDeleteGiovanni is an amazing brand.
You never get the massive bottle of Goya here. I miss home.

Awww, Thank you Esther :)
DeleteCurls get me really happy, hehe.
Aww, really, even at the African Shops?
You should visit soon!
Lovely curls :)
ReplyDeleteI don't use an instant conditioner after I deep condition except my DC is a DIY mix that is yucky and messy.
Thanks AB!
DeleteOh, okay, that makes sense especially if you've got eggs, mayo, avocado and all that foodstuff in your hair.
Hi Tuke!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by at the Makeup Fair!
You're welcome, it was lovely meeting you :)
DeleteTotally glorious hair.
ReplyDeleteI think my hair texture is similar to yours..
Thank you Yeva.
DeleteOh, really, Nice :)
Hair Texture twins!
After I DC I stop my washing process right there. My regular conditioner has a rinse-out/ leave-in option (Shea Moisture Yucca & Plantain Anti-Breakage Conditioner), so I put it on my hair along with an oil and leave it in after my DC. See if that will work for you with just using a small amount of the Giovanni. You can then follow up with styling your hair as you would normally do afterwards. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, okay, interesting. I actually did the LOC method afterwards with my Spray Bottle, some EVOO and then some whipped Shea butter.
DeleteHaven't used my Creme of Nature leave in conditioner in a whiiiile, will get it out and then compare the results.
Thanks Maureen :D
U're welcome!
DeleteFor some reason Giovanni conditioner doesn't work for my hair
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks lush though!
Ohh, okay. Hair can be weird sha, sooo many people hype the cantu leave in but it does nothing for my hair, that's why we gotta experiment to find out what works.
DeleteThank you Abby :)
I also just took off my kinky twist i almost cried and i did not even loose as much hair as you did was too scared to comb ,i DCed too but wasn't satisfied,i have my hair in African threading style now.I hear Giovanni is good i will try and get the conditioner.
ReplyDeleteEyaah, me sef, I didn't comb.
DeleteHow long did you have the twists in for?
It's not bad , it's very light.
I haven't tried African Threading since last year, I might just give it a shot.
5weeks thats the longest i have won a protective style since i went natural
DeleteOh, okay, cool cool, that's good!
DeleteIt depends on my mood. I usually use a conditioner after I DC but I rinse out with warm water so my hair still feels luscious. I love the Giovanni Conditioner though.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to put your hair in a protective style this period? I'm thinking of doing weekly washes et all and using wigs this season (which I have never done. My natural hair is most times in braids)
Oh, nice, what conditioner do you use and what do you use for your DC?
DeleteYes, I definitely will put it in a protective style next week. I bought a closure last weekend so I'll either do a weave or just make a wig with it so I can at least take care of my hair when I'm not wearing the wig.
Pls where do I get all dis products. I just cut my dreads... thanks
ReplyDeleteHey Pearl, so I typically get my products from KL's Natural's in Dolphin Estate or The Kinky Apothecary in VI (They have branches in Surulere and Maryland too). I'm not sure where you are based but The Kink and I have a list of Natural Hair stores (online ones too) in Nigeria so you can choose one of the stores on their list. Link Below!

My natural hair is just breaking in front cos I braided it after cutting d dreads... So wot do u advice me to do? Thanks for ur response
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I'm not a Natural Hair Guru and I haven't experienced front hair breakage so I advice you to check the link above and call someone from Sizzelle, O'Naturals or The Kinky Apothecary and they'll know what you can do. You can also send them an email or post the question in one of the groups on Facebook for ladies with Natural Hair! (Links Below) I'm sure they will give you a solution.
