2015 Goal Audit | Tuke's Quest

2015 Goal Audit

When I reminisce on 2015, I am honestly Super Grateful and Thankful. There were ups and downs, old friendships lost, new friendships formed, confusing times, trying times but it worked out the way God wanted it to and I achieved certain things I didn't think I would.
I recorded a single, Trust, which is on iTunes, it's been played on different radio stations and TV stations too. My Sax playing became more than a hobby and I met so many wonderful people while playing. I survived without a 9 to 5 for 9 months and that period was a time to dig deep, experiment and discover myself.

I will share all I learnt this year in the concluding part of the Lessons I've learnt as a Creative Entrepreneur Series but for now let's talk about goals.
So I set out certain goals at the beginning of the year, check out that post here. I did a Quarter Year Goal Audit and now I'm doing a Final Year Goal Audit

1) Grade 5 theory (and a practical exam): So it wasn't possible to do my practical exam without the theory and I didn't do the theory till November 7 but it's Done diddy done done and I passed with Merit (88%). I was 2 marks away from a Distinction which is painful but God did it tbh, An Old friend I reconnected with at the Jazz Workshop which I mentioned here was my teacher. He took it upon himself to ensure I was prepared for the exam, he was a destiny helper of mine this year. Thank you Alphonso, there's a picture of him in this post.

2) Feature in ads/editorials, billboards, tvc's,etc: This didn't happen the way I expected, like last year I modelled for Aima's but it's fine. I work in advertising now so I'm getting insight into how things are done. I was on TV though, on Ebony Life, Africa Magic and TVC. My face was on the flyer for certain events too, like I was a Guest Artist at On The Rock and Glowreeyah's The Expression (Video here). I was supposed to model for a Brand's style campaign and the day before the shoot I was called by the company I work for now for the final round of the interview process. I guess God didn't want it to happen.

3) Become a brand ambassador:  So a tech start up sent me a contract to be their brand ambassador but they had some downtime this year. I think my brand needs to be built to a certain point and I need to have a certain level of influence before I can become an ambassador for big international brands.

4) More blog collaborations, brand collaborations and creative collaborations: So in terms of Brand Collaborations, I worked with The Department to host a giveaway. I worked with Bella Cosa on a Giveaway and 3 Style Posts: Day Jumpsuit, Night Jumpsuit and Hi-Lo Dress. I worked with Grey, Iconola, Kaymu, Desire 1709, Thando's Shoes, Cookie Skin, Ayaba, Shakara 1, Shakara 2, Kampke, Jiji, MillesimeDarling Hair, Shay's Treats & Ultra Black Hair Africa. Blog Collaborations with Tosin Alabi (First Time Tag & Accent Tag), Grace & SarahPretty Faze and Berry & Cassie for TBC Connect. I want to collaborate wayyyy more next year.

5) Active multiple sources of income (make money from your passions/talent): This happened and I'm really happy it did. I made money from Sax, Photography, Content Creation and some blogposts too.

6) Save at least double of what I did last year and invest in something that yields better returns: I saved double but I haven't done enough research in terms of investment options.

7) Take advantage of the many benefits of social media, especially twitter, in terms of transmission of information to people globally: I don't think I did this to the best of my ability. I became more active on Youtube, subscribe to my channel here if you haven't already. I got a couple of Sax clients through Instagram too but I think I need to work more on my reach.

8) Travel, to other states in Nigeria and other countries in Africa: I went to other states in Nigeria but not in Africa. I actually didn't leave Nigeria this year, choi, next year must be different. I went to Erin Oke (Osun), Ijebu(Ogun), Ibadan(Oyo) and Abuja(FCT) so that's 4 states. I also blogged about my experience in Orlando when I went in 2012, a general overview and the food I experienced there.

9) Develop a more intimate relationship with God: Didn't really happen

10) Get a Blog Logo, move to the domain name and change the layout: Done Diddy Done Done, Yayyy :) I got a Brand Logo too. See Dee Mako helped me move to the domain, I found the girl that made my layout through fash style liv and my logo was done by a guy, Mayowa who was recommended to me by Bimpe. Blogger Connects :) Mayowa designed the cover for Trust too :)

Resolutions

A) Get to church on time for sunday school so I can achieve my goal of drawing closer to God: Didn't happen

B) Practise sax on a more consistent basis, I haven't set the frequency yet as I'm not sure what the workload will be like at my new job: I practised o and I established my band, met a Vocalist I love and I worked with quite a number of keyboardists this year, learnt something from each of them. There are quite a number of videos of us on youtube, check them out! I played on a lot of huge platforms too and I am super grateful for all the clients I was privileged to work with.

C) Try and write One article on another platform other than your blog each month, it could be on paper or online, this will help in expanding the blog reach too: I wrote a lot of Content for Fayrouz, check them out here. I wasn't properly credited though, like there was no link back to my blog so it didn't help in expanding my blog reach. My photography skills greatly improved because of this experience though, I even took pictures for a Bespoke Luxury Catering website, chilli and spice. I wrote for some other websites too and you can check them out in the features section of the blog

D) Cook more often: It sorta did, I experimented in the kitchen, made Sandwiches (S Cubed and the Tuna Sweetcorn one), Waffles, learnt to make Garlic Bread too. I got an Ice-Cream Maker for Christmas, haven't started using it yet but it can make gelato, frozen yoghurt and sorbets too, Yummy

So have you guy's done a 2015 goal audit? Have you set goals for next year too?

For some goals I set there was a Prerequisite which I hadn't yet met and it sometimes takes a period of time to reach the prerequisite. Like you can't run if you don't know how to walk. So, this is something I'm going to consider when setting goals for next year, they have to be realistic, like you can't say you want to win an olympic medal if you haven't even qualified in the olympics. Hope you get the point I'm trying to get across :)

You can check out my 2014 Goals and my 2014 Goal Audit to see the growth that has happened.

Happy New Year in Advance People!

Thanks for following me on this journey :) I really love and appreciate all you wonderful readers, God Bless you! There will be more giveaways next year to show my appreciation.

See ya in  2016!

  7. I'm afraid to do a Goals audit because I don't think I achieved much of anything. I wrote down goals but didn't check back frequently to make sure I was on track - lesson learned.

You've done a great job this year - especially with the sax. Keep it up!

    1. Awww, I was scared to do mine too, that's why I didn't do a Half Year or Three Quarter year Audit. When I dug deep, I realised that even though I didn't achieve all my goals, I took steps towards achieving them.

      Thanks Berry :)

      Happy New Year!
